Come See the Zombie Side of Sears

Sears Zombies

With Halloween swiftly approaching in all of its gory glory, Sears kicked off a campaign aimed at a usually overlooked target audience -- Zombies.

The Sears team released the viral campaign this weekend offering its variety of wares ranging from jewelry to "accessorize like the living" and washing machines promising to eliminate "brain stains."  Sears also created three videos for the campaign with nearly 100,000 views total.

Nate Winter, one of Pomegranate's own contributors, worked on the campaign and makes his acting debut in "Fitness for Zombies Presented by Sears" and "Zombie Elevator."

This campaign has all of the right attributes to make it a viral sensation. It's engaging, timely, and above all, it's funny and unexpected coming from the generally conservative store. The zombie site was featured on the home page of social bookmarking website Reddit.com shortly after launching, and has been covered by WIRED Magazine, Advertising Age and AdWeek.

The National Retail Federation expects Americans to spend $5.8 billion this year on costumes, tricks and treats for Halloween. No word on if that statistic includes spending by the undead.
