80% of Children Under Age 5 are Online

According to a new report released today by the Joan Ganz Cooney Center and Sesame Workshop nearly 80% of children between the ages of 0 and 5 use the Internet at least once per week.
The report also shows that children this age are consuming more digital media than ever before. Television use is still the most popular for children, accounting for 47% of all their media use. Parents also indicated that 60% of children under the age of three spend time online watching videos.
Children have always been a largely targeted demographic for television, but these statistics will likely increase the marketing of child-related goods via online video advertising. It won't be long before your toddler is watching an ad for the latest Yo Gabba Gabba! toy in the first 30 seconds of the show's latest YouTube channel upload!
